Insulin

Amyloid-like insulin fibers acquired in fluid using iDrive, a special cantilever
holder that uses Lorentz Force to magnetically actuate the cantilever.
The fibers were formed by first incubating bovine insulin at 80°C for 48 hours
then maintaining them at room temperature for continued fiber growth.
The left-handed nature of the fibers is clearly visible. 3µm scan (left) 500nm scan (right).

Insulin solutions were provided by G. Thompson and A. Vertegel, Clemson University.
